Award for Patient Satisfaction
For the second year in a row, Martha's Vineyard Hospital has received the Summit Award from Press Ganey Associates, Inc. for excellence in patient satisfaction in its emergency department. The award was announced in ceremonies at the 2008 Press Ganey National Client Conference.
Press Ganey is the industry's leading satisfaction measurement and improvement firm. Its awards are the Oscars of the health care industry, and there's none more prestigious or more difficult to attain than the Summit Award: its winners must rank in the 95th percentile or above in the patient satisfaction database for at least three consecutive years.
Winners of the Summit Award are truly an elite group. Press Ganey serves more than 7,000 health care institutions; Martha's Vineyard Hospital is one of just thirteen to receive the Summit Award this year for its emergency department services.
Tim Walsh, president and CEO of Martha's Vineyard Hospital, said the Summit Award says, "As an organization that adopted a Total Quality Management philosophy in 2004, it is very gratifying to see that our efforts have resulted in inspiring staff toward our goal of excellence in all that we do. Their efforts benefit and lead to improved delivery of health care. To win this award two years in a row shows an outstanding level of professionalism and commitment to the highest quality of care."
Every patient at Martha's Vineyard Hospital receives a survey to complete evaluating their experience at the Hospital, said Mr. Walsh, "because we want to hear back from every patient we serve. We study their responses carefully, looking for places where we can improve."
